I had similar bug couple of times but each time it was gone after reboot

Re-ordering the controllers can be done through @meleu's Joystick selection tool, give it a try.

I’ve managed to change them so retroarch sees my numbered buttons. It still won’t save. When I go into input for user two and click bind default all it changes to how I want it. But it just won’t save!!

I set it directly in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/THTTHTArcadeconsole2PUSBPlayer.cfg

input_enable_hotkey_btn = "8"

If I use the Retroarch menu (Settings/Input/Input Hotkey Binds/Enable Hotkeys), I can't set it to 11 because is on js1. I can only set button from js0.

Solved: Seems as though the 3 port otg adaptor was the cause! Seems to be working fine now that I've switched back to the original single port otg that came with my pi

@caver01 thanks for such a quick reply, I thought this might be the case, and it would make sense to do the re-wiring to suit UAE4arm, before re-mapping MAME using your config suggestion!

@godsephiroth If you follow the instructions in my post here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7832/fix-up-left-joystick-direction-for-tht-2p-arcade-controller-with-device-id-0x75e1/9 it should work for 05e0. The location in each file to make those edits is most easily found if you just

sudo nano <filename>
search for XIN_
add the line right after the existing entry

turns out my xin mo had some quality issues...

button 9/10 when pressed would disconnect the xin mo... i changed from P0 to P1 to confirm this...they are sending me a new one.

I didn't no, but it depends on your controller. You would have to modify the pins to pick up 4 players.
